Dr. Jack Schaefer DACM, Lac

Dr. Jack Schaefer, DACM, is the founder of Mountain West Wellness Advanced Acupuncture and a Colorado native. With over 25 years of experience in Chinese medicine, acupuncture, functional medicine, and Daoist medicine, Dr. Schaefer is a dedicated healer and teacher in the field of natural healthcare. He is a board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist with the NCCAOM and holds a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Jack began his journey into Chinese medicine through a personal connection to acupuncture from a young age and early encouragement from his martial arts instructors. His extensive education includes post-graduate studies and residency at the renowned Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, where he specialized in oncology, advanced acupuncture techniques, and tuina bodywork.

Over his career, Dr. Schaefer has taught hundreds of students as a professor, including mentoring a dozen apprentices who now practice nationwide. He currently teaches at Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder and has presented at respected institutions, such as the Lotus Institute of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Schaefer has published research and articles in esteemed journals, including The Lantern and The Journal of Chinese Medicine. A lifelong martial artist and student of Daoism, Dr. Schaefer is an ordained Daoist priest and co-founder of Parting Clouds Daoist Education. In practice, he focuses on pain syndromes, general wellness, and specialized therapies.
